Rooted in theology and psychology
We offer simple yet effective training to ensure all faith leaders can confidently manage and support individuals who are vulnerable, lost and broken.
Luke 19 v 10: “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”
Churches are called to be safe havens, places of refuge and divine intervention. If we offer salvation but overlook someones need for additional practical help, alongside the healing love of Christ, we are letting down our congregation. For centuries, too many Christians or ex-believers have stories to tell of being in church, suffering with mental illness which declined until they became suicidal, withdrawn and/or eventually leave the church. Within this time people share with us that they disclosed to their Pastor or Senior leaders a mental health crisis, suicidal feelings etc… yet no tangible support or advice was offered.
It is crucial that church leaders and their volunteers know how to ensure that those suffering with mental health related issues aren't stigmatised, overlooked or ignored. Members of churches should not be returning back home the way they came; of course we believe in a God of miracles and prayer is an appropriate first line response for Pastors and Elders. However, we have a responsibility to ensure we make maximum impact within our capabilities as clergy; to safeguard from further harm and distress.
For many devout Christians, your church is the only place they will feel safe enough to disclose their true feelings and suffering. They will often look to you to help them through, so we must get the advice and support we give to the mentally suffering right. Their life's literally depend on it.
If we get this wrong, this could have catastrophic consequences to the individual and the body of Christ.
This course is full of grace, loving counsel and wisdom. The Lord requires us to learn from our mistakes and grow in wisdom. Together we can ensure that churches are safe places for all and prevent unnecessary loss of souls and even life.
