What is the therapeutic hour?

We are a company that specializes in delivering mental health and well-being solutions. These are 1 hour, relaxing, accessible, creative and diverse sessions which address everyday concerns and topics that impact mental health.

Our core sessions are Self-care and ‘How am I’ weeks.

Self-care workshops offer a unique space for you to take time out for your mental well-being, and rebuild through a variety of fun, expressive and relaxing activities/techniques. ‘How am I’ weeks allow you to stop and reflect on how you are really doing. A trained facilatator will guide attendees through a creative and expressive activity, that allows you to tune in with how you are feeling, and express this in an alternative way (i.e through drawing, arts and crafts and many more techniques).

On our themed weeks, we will have a short talk on the topic at hand i.e anger, worry/anxiety, loss… followed by a guided activity that helps you address the theme of the week.

Although workshops are done in groups, all members are commited to focusing on their own wellbeing, so there is no pressure to interact with others should you choose not to. You can give your mental well-being the time and attention it needs; either on your own, or with the support of the group and TTH staff.

Community workshops have a dedicated ‘Let’s Talk’ area where a trained Listener will be posted should you wish to talk about something that is burderning you, or if you would value genuine empathy and a listening ear.

(This is not counselling or therapy, simply a dedicated and trained listener available to help. Spaces are limited to listener availabilty)

What are our therapeutic approaches?

Our sessions are influenced by a combination of Person-centered, Systemic, CBT and Art therapy techniques.

Our ethos - “quality and equal care for all”.

I am the company owner and director, a BACP Psychotherapist, Christian and disabled Mum of one.

I am passionate about creating a better future for the next generation, as well as addressing the mental health crisis of today. Having overcome childhood trauma and ill-health in adulthood, I am more determined than ever to ensure that no child experiences trauma that can be avoided ever again. I am commited to seeing everyone, especially the most vulnerable in society, recieves much needed mental health support and guidance. Safe spaces for the community will ensure consistent weekly support through personal situations and difficulties; be it health, family, financial, economic, personal or societal challenges. General and diverse support are severely lacking in our nation. I believe we ALL should have access to high-quality, diverse, mental heath support; including therapuetuic interventions - at all times, not just at crisis point.

As a Christian, I aim to treat everyone with respect and excellence, in addition to ensuring that no-one is excluded. Mental health can not be a ‘one size fits all’ mentality, we need to meet people where they are and offer interventions that are respectful of their needs, preferences and cultures. I believe a truly holistic approach to mental health is key (this is a consideration of physical, emotional, social and spiritual wellbeing), as agreed by many clinicians.

I believe that The Therapeutic Hour is the way forward for our nation to address the mental health needs of our generation from a preventitive standpoint - as well as for interim support, whilst waiting for traditional psychological interventions.

Let’s get our nation in the habit of having a weekly Therapeutic Hour!
